found photography when he was 16, in the squat, techno and activist scene of 90’s east Berlin. Following a technical photography apprenticeship, he worked as a photojournalist and after showing his photos to friends in the art world, he began to be programmed in museums in the early 2000‘s. Julian went on to study Photography at Leipzig Academy of Fine Arts. He is always trying to analyse structures of power in his photographs of the policing of bodies, geoterritorial contours and the market.
